The objective of the District 106 Parent Teacher Council (PTC) is to join the school, home and community in a manner that supports the educational needs of our children. To accomplish this goal, the PTC fosters communication between the Highlands staff, parents and the community, coordinates various student services, and raises funds to support educational and social activities at Highlands.

These activities are coordinated by the PTC's Executive Board and approximately 30 committees staffed by more than 80 volunteers. The PTC's activities include fundraising events such as Market Day, Gift Wrap Sale, Book Fair, Holiday Gift Shop, and Hot Lunch and Dessert Days. The PTC also coordinates student and family activities such as Art Smart, Friday Night Fever, Variety Show, and the 8th grade Party and Reception. In addition, once a year, the PTC grants "Wish List" requests submitted by Highlands' staff, Highlands' parents or members of the Highlands community. Through the Wish List process, the PTC grants thousands of dollars each year to support academic, cultural, technology, music and sports programs at Highlands. Typically, the PTC holds a monthly general membership meeting on the first Tuesday of the month at 9:00am in the Highlands Board Room but we also hold occasional evening meetings. The general membership meetings are attended by the PTC Officers, Dr. Dyer, Mr. Papierski, and Mr. Graber, teacher representatives from both schools, a middle school student council representative, and a Chairperson from each of the active PTC committees. The general meetings include updates on recent school developments and PTC activities. All interested parents, volunteers or staff are encouraged and welcomed to attend.
