A Message from the Superintendent
Thank you for visiting the LaGrange Highlands School District 106 website. If you are new to our district, welcome! If you and your child(ren) are already part of this amazing learning community, then you know about Highlands’ winning combination: We have highly intelligent and engaged students, involved and nurturing parents, skilled and dedicated educators, and an active and supportive Board of Educaation. These critical elements are what ensure continued school improvement and excellence across District 106.
The LaGrange Highlands District (commonly referred to as “the Highlands”) is located in LaGrange, Illinois. Currently, we have 950 students enrolled in grades PreK - 8th grade. Highlands has very strong academic programs in Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, English/Language Arts, Fine Arts, Foreign Languages, and Physical Education/Health. Our students have rich daily opportunities to utilize technology; the district has a 1:1 initiative and students are issued a district-owned laptop to use from 5th grade through 8th grade.
Our students also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of enrichment opportunities and extra-curricular activities. Our co-curricular programs of athletics and music are very successful. We offer softball, basketball, and volleyball teams for both boys and girls. The cross country and soccer teams are co-ed, “no-cut” sports. In addition, students in fifth and sixth grade may participate in an intramural program that includes softball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. For interested middle school students, our music department features a chamber orchestra, concert orchestra, concert band, jazz band, chorus, and show choir. Also offered are a wide variety of after-school clubs and activities for middle school students.
We have absolutely outstanding teachers, administrators, and support staff members who work in a thoughtful and dedicated manner to support and encourage students to be successful in all domains—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our staff provides a positive, nurturing environment for all children. We are committed to ensuring that each student has the opportunity to thrive in many areas and ways. In order to foster their success, children will have opportunities to critically think, effectively communicate, respectfully collaborate, and strategically identify and solve problems.
I am honored to work on behalf of and serve the Highlands’ learning community—students, families, staff, Board of Education, and the larger community. Together we not only prepare our students for the future, we prepare them to lead the future.
I encourage you to explore the district website. If you are planning or considering having your child(ren) attend the Highlands, please contact us. Parents and community members, please feel free to contact me at any time should you have any questions or requests for additional information.
