We are excited to share the dates and times for the Summer School 2024 camps!

(The Reading and Math Camps and Enrichment Camps will NOT meet on Fridays)

(Your child's current grade level will be used for summer school registration.)

Both summer school and the 2024-2025 school year registration occur online simultaneously, beginning on Friday, March 22, and closing on Sunday, April 7. Payment for summer school classes is due by April 7.

Band & Orchestra Offerings

4th and 5th Grade Orchestra Camp

Grades: 4-5, $120

Current 4th and 5th-grade orchestra musicians interested in improving individual skills, note and rhythm reading, and playing in large and small ensembles will spend 5 days working with professionals in the music field. Students will learn from musicians specializing in each instrument, in addition to learning new music as a full orchestra. At the end of the camp, students will give a concert, performing together to share the music they learned at camp. This summer camp is a unique chance to collaborate with professionals and peers to build musicality for the coming years. This camp is geared towards students finishing their first or second year on their instrument. The price includes a camp shirt.

6th and 7th Grade Orchestra Camp

Grades: 6-7, $120

4th and 5th Grade Band Camp

Grades: K-7, $50

Invitation Only - Students continue to develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening concepts developed this year through small group instruction and activities. Instruction will be personalized for students.

Math Camp

Grades: K-7, $50

Invitation Only - Students will review math concepts developed this year through activities, games, and small group lessons. Instruction will be personalized for students.

ECE Camp 

Grade: ECE, $50

Students will continue to develop early learning skills through targeted play and scaffolded activities. Enrollment is limited to students currently enrolled in the district’s early childhood program.

I Like to Move It, Move: Summer Intramurals

Grades: K-3, $100

We Like to Move it, Move it! Join us as we play a variety of games and sports including kickball, basketball, yoga, Zumba, and more. Students with all abilities, sensory needs, and interests are encouraged to join, as there will be plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and meet new friends. Build your confidence, learn how to be a good teammate, and have tons of fun in this intramural summer course!

Sports Fusion

Grades: K-3, 3-5 $100

Hello Hornets! Please join us for a fun-filled Sports Camp where we will engage in various activities to enhance team spirit and physical fitness. Students will build their communication and teamwork skills as well as their understanding of the various activities. Activities will include volleyball, track and field, basketball, and more!

Business Club: Summer Edition

Grades: 3-5, $100

Join us for a summertime version of Highlands Business Club! Students will use their creativity, communication skills, and teamwork to design and run a “Snacks ‘n’ Stuff” school store. Together, these young entrepreneurs will choose a charity to donate our proceeds to, order supplies, advertise, and eventually run our store for other summer school students. You don’t want to miss out on this exciting opportunity to be a part of our team!

Crafty 101

Grades: 4-6, $120

Students will be given the chance to create art projects alongside their peers. Projects include macrame wall art, digital art, friendship bracelets, rock art, shrinky dink key chains, collage, painting, and drawing. Students will enjoy being creative this summer!

Cross Country Camp

Grades: 4-7, $100

Hey Hornets! If you want to meet new friends, achieve your best race times, and learn how to maintain a healthy body and lifestyle, then come to the Highlands Cross Country Summer Camp! Cross Country is a competitive team sport that is offered in the fall. Middle school race courses are usually 2 miles long. A great thing about Cross Country is that everyone gets to compete! Proper nutrition, training, stretching, and healthy choices will be shared throughout the course. Everyone runs on the same course and participates to finish that race as a team! All participants will need proper running shoes, workout clothes, and water bottles. If we cannot train outdoors due to the weather, then we will train inside. Let’s bring back some gold this year, jump-start our training and reach a new personal best in fitness!

Blast off with Science and Engineering Design (STEM)

Grades: 3-5, $100

If you love to work with your hands, are a fan of science, and want to learn what types of careers and cool labs scientists and engineers participate in, then this is the class you’ve been waiting for! In this course, students can participate in engineering challenges such as bridge-building competitions, chemistry and reactions in our lives, LEGO education design, technology and circuit design, and the ever-popular water rocket launch! By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze and replicate various chemical and physics concepts through a series of guided reading, discussions, and hands-on activities. Join in the fun!

Hornets Cheer 5-7

Grades: 5-7, $115

Are you interested in learning more about joining the Highlands Hornets cheerleading squad? Are you a current Highlands cheerleader who wants to learn new skills for the upcoming season? If so, join us at the Hornets Cheer camp! Middle school students will learn advanced cheerleading motions and skills, such as chants, jumps, and dance, while promoting Highlands school spirit! The price includes a camp shirt.

Hornets Cheer-2-4

Grades: 2-4, $115

Do you love to cheer on your favorite team, perform for others, or learn exciting routines? If so, join us for Hornets Cheer camp! Elementary school students will have fun learning cheerleading motions and skills such as chants, jumps, and dance while promoting Highlands school spirit.  We will also play skills games and create signs to cheer on the Hornets! The price includes a camp t-shirt.

Introduction to Computers and Technology and Art Design

Grades: 1-4, $100

Video games, iPads, smartphones, computers galore! We all use them in one way or another, but how have they changed the way we learn and communicate with the world? Students will explore the historical impact, the latest trends, and how the influence of computers, video games, and technology has changed our lives throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Students will learn how computers operate and will design or create computer programs by participating in an online tutorial from code.org. This tutorial offers an elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing, how internet and technology tools are created, and career exploration. Through a series of over 20 lessons, students will blend online, self-guided, and self-paced tutorials with “unplugged” activities that may require no computer at all. By the end of the course, students will be able to explain how computers and the internet have changed and influenced the way we live and learn in the 21st century.

Reader’s Theater Fun

Grades: 1-4, $100

Are you ready for an awesome adventure in the world of storytelling? Get ready to team up with your classmates for an exciting reading extravaganza! We will dive into scripts and bring them to life like never before. Imagine stepping onto a magical stage, where every word you read turns into an epic tale! Get ready to giggle, gasp, and grow as you explore the wonders of reading aloud and teamwork. Become the stars of your very own show!

Musical Boot Camp

Grades: 4-7, $100

Get your singing voices and dancing shoes ready for Musical Bootcamp! This two-week intensive will focus on how to audition and perform in a musical. During Week 1, students will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to master their audition for a musical. We will dive deep into character development, age-appropriate singing techniques, and how to do the coveted jazz square. At the end of Week 1, auditions will be held for our "'mini-musical," which will be performed in concert style (no costumes, no props, no set, and minimal choreography) at the end of Week 2, and shared with family and friends digitally. "It's showtime!"

Show Choir Boot Camp

Grades: 4-7, $100

Let's re-energize our voices and bodies during this two-week Show Choir intensive. During week 1, singers will learn the methods of a high-level Show Choir audition. They will be introduced to various singing techniques, artistry tactics, and full-body choreography, which they will apply to their audition at the end of the week. At the start of Week 2, students will dive into their performance repertoire and choreography. The performance will be showcased via a shared recording to families and friends. Let's get ready to groove!

Basketball Camp

Grades: 5-7, 3-5, $100

Do you like basketball? Are you looking for a place to improve your shooting, passing, rebounding, dribbling, and defensive skills? Then look no further than our summer basketball camp! We will work on all aspects of your game, including mental toughness and confidence, and work towards making each individual player a better TEAM player. There will be an emphasis on technique, hustle, and sportsmanship. We will do competitive individual and team drills and activities to help each player grow and improve. We will also compete daily in fun and energetic scrimmages and a five v. five tournament at the end of the camp. Please come to camp with appropriate shoes and gear, a water bottle, and a positive attitude.
