HMS Food Drive

Highlands Middle School is having a Holiday Food Drive from  12/3 to 12/14. This year we focus on the families, the elderly, and the homeless community who depend on these everyday items to get them through tough times. So, rather than greatest poundage, we are looking for easy meal variety and abundance.

8th Grade Band performs with LT Wind Ensemble

Congratulations to our 8th graders that performed with the LT Wind Ensemble in early November.  They were able to spend a day rehearsing at the high school and perform a concert that evening!

Global Read Aloud Book Discussion

Ms. O'Brien's 6th grade LA class (period 8/9) participated in a Google Hangouts discussion of the novel they are reading as part of the Global Read Aloud.  They talked with 6th graders in Virginia about the book Refugee, comparing their impressions of the characters and asking each other questions about the three main story lines.

Congratulations to Highlands 8th graders Alex Snyder and Elise Weyer on their ILMEA Honor Band performance today.  Alex Snyder was 1st chair tuba and Elise had 2 solo percussion assignments for the concert.  We are so proud of your commitment and passion for music!
