Students vs. Staff Volleyball Game
Mr. Platt's homeroom class collected over 100 pairs of socks for donation, and won a chance to face off against staff for a friendly game of volleyball! Way to go Mr. Platt's homeroom!
8th grade Orchestra Festival at LT High School
8th grade Orchestra students had the opportunity to attend the LT High School Orchestra Festival. Students were able to meet and play with members of the LT Orchestras. There was a fabulous evening concert that followed all the hard work that was done earlier in the day!

We are excited to start a new year!
I hope you have had a fun and relaxing summer with your family. We are very excited to welcome our students back for another great year of learning at Highlands on Wednesday, August 21. We remain committed to providing our students with a learning environment that is safe, welcoming, and nurturing; and an education that helps them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
NEW DISTRICT WEBSITE & COMMUNICATIONS TOOL
Using the feedback we received from a parent survey and our Parent Advisory Group, we have refreshed our website's look, organization, and features. Most changes will be intuitive, but a few are worth highlighting.

Four quicklinks on the district homepage will provide you easy access to the information most frequently sought by parents.
COMMUNICATIONS & UPDATES
The communications and updates quicklink will take you to an archive of updates that have come from the building principals or superintendent. This is intended to help you easily access previous updates and information rather than scrolling through your inbox for past messages.
Weekly updates from principals, bi-weekly updates from teachers, and periodic updates from the superintendent will be stored here. Emails to individual grade levels or classes will not be archived here to keep the quantity of content manageable.

The Schoology & Seesaw quicklink at the bottom of the District homepage will give you easy access to the login pages for Schoology and Seesaw and will provide helpful login information.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The safety of our students and staff is a top priority for us. Using a portion of the contingency money left over from the Middle School building project, all first-story exterior doors and windows have now been treated with an industry-leading safety film that resists shattering and denies entry to anyone trying to forcibly access the school by breaking the glass in a door or window. Additionally, the following security measures are in place:
- All exterior doors are locked and closed at all times.
- All visitors must check in at the main office and are screened using our Safe Visitor management system.
- All classroom doors remain locked throughout the day.
- Lockdown drills are practiced multiple times each year in collaboration with local law enforcement.

Welcome to our New Staff!
We are so excited to welcome our new staff to District 106! We have a wonderful group of teachers and paraprofessionals joining us for the 2024-25 school year! We can't wait to see our students on August 21 for their first day of school!
5th Grade Step Up Night
It was wonderful having our new 5th Graders and their families in the Middle School last night for Step Up Night! We are so excited to welcome our newest Middle School students on the first day of school on Wednesday, August 21! Go Hornets!

District 106 Technology Sale
The District Technology Sale will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at the Administrative Entrance, 1750 W. Plainfield Road, La Grange, IL 60525.

District 106 will sell used iPads, projectors, Apple TVs, and other electronic items on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024.
General Sale Info
- The sale will open to all district residents at 8:00 a.m. (Proof of residency is required.)
- The sale will open to the general public when no residents remain in line to purchase items.
- Either cash or credit card will be accepted as a form of payment. (No checks.)
- There is a limit of one of each type of item (desktop, projector, etc) per household.
- During the public sale, those who wish to purchase more than one item may return to the end of the line to make an additional purchase.
- All equipment will be sold as-is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once equipment leaves our doors, it is non-returnable. No refunds will be given.
- No warranty of any kind for equipment or batteries is offered or implied.
- Once sold out, a notice will be posted on the district website.
