Elementary School: Final Elementary Family Day
Published by Dr. Graber on May 02, 2019

On Wednesday, May 1, students celebrated their final Highlands Family day for the school year.

During our final Family Day gathering for the year, students participated in a variety of activities with their families in classrooms throughout the building.  All students are part of a family group made up of 11-12 students ranging in age from kindergarten through fourth grade and headed by a certified staff member.  Family groups meet monthly for a short period of time for special lessons and activities.  This is a unique opportunity for students to meet and form supportive relationships with students and staff members from outside of their classroom and grade level.  Family groups remain together across multiple school years.  As fourth graders graduate from our school each year, new kindergarten students take their place and are welcomed into our existing families.  Highlands Family activities are just one way we are working to ensure a welcoming and supportive environment for all students at Highlands.
