On Tuesday, August 25 we will conduct a routine Shelter In Place drill in the morning.  This is only a practice exercise to ensure our students and staff know how to respond safely in an emergency situation. 

Pe uniforms

While most of our PE uniforms have arrived, we are still waiting on uniforms for some of our students.  In the meantime, our PE teachers are giving any student that does not have a PE uniform a rental uniform to use for the time being.  Students are not losing any points in PE as a result of not having a PE uniform yet.  Thank you for your patience.

Ticketing Information for Spectators:

• Digital tickets can be purchased through GoFan. 

Spectator Rules/Agreements:

• No bags, backpacks, sports bags, tote bags, duffle bags, etc. will be allowed into the stadium during football games (this applies to students and adults).  

• Once you leave the stadium, there is no re-entry allowed (this applies to students and adults).

• No outside beverages are allowed (this applies to students and adults).

• All middle school students and younger children must be accompanied by a paid adult with a ticket/pass who is present at the game for the entire time the child is present (maximum 4 children will be admitted with each adult). 

• If there is no adult with students younger than high school age, they will not be allowed into the stadium. 

• A child not in the presence of an adult or who cannot find their supervising adult will be required to contact a parent/guardian and be picked up from the game immediately.

We reserve the right to deny admission for failure to comply with the outlined spectator agreements, violation of board policy, or if attendance results in any safety concerns.

back to school bash

We are excited to end our first week together with our annual Student Council Back to School Bash.  The Bash is on Friday, August 21 from 3:15 - 4:15 pm.  Students can buy tickets Thursday and Friday during their lunch periods, or they can buy them at the door on Friday afternoon.  Tickets are $5.00.  The ticket includes entry into the Bash, pizza and a sweet treat.  Students will be dismissed at 4:15 pm, and they can either walk/ride their bike home or get picked up at the main entrance to the middle school.  

change in student communication

To improve student safety, District 106 is no longer using the Schoology messaging feature for students, parents, and staff.  Instead, everyone will communicate through district-issued email addresses.  Student email addresses all use the following format: graduation year followed by the first initial of their first name, followed by the first five letters of their last name, and ending with @district106.net.  For example, Molly Fountas, a 5th grader, would have the following email address: 30mfount@district106.net.

5th grade step up night

Our annual 5th Grade Step Up Night is set for Wednesday, August 12 from 6:00 - 7:15 pm.  We will send out more specific details to 5th grade families in the coming weeks.  If your child is unable to attend Step Up Night, please reach out to  Mrs. Fountas at lfountas@district106.net or Mr. Steele at ssteele@district.106 to set up an alternative time to tour the middle school.

As a reminder, if your child plans on trying out/participating in a fall sport, he/she must have an up-to-date physical on file with the middle school office.  Our fall sports are:

• Boys' and Girls' Cross Country
• Baseball
• Boys' Softball
• Girls' Basketball

library books

All library books were due this past Wednesday.  There are still over 400 books checked out to students across the district.  If you could take one last look around the house for any school library books that might still be at home, we would really appreciate it.  Thank you for your help!

All campers will receive an LT football shirt, an Under Armour fitted hat, and for the first time, LT Football ESD shorts.

Summer Camp Registration

The camp will teach the campers a variety of skills and techniques for the different positions of football.  We will also teach them some basic offensive and defensive schemes.  At the end of each day, players will compete in two hand touch football games, which the campers really enjoy.  During the week, campers will also compete against their grade level campers in a pass, punt, 40 yard dash, and a pro agility competition.  THIS IS A NON-TACKLE CAMP AND NO PADS WILL BE WORN DURING THIS CAMP.

The campers will hear from our coaches and high school players about their journey and specific attributes that will help them be successful on the field, in the classroom, and in life. We will talk about leadership, hard work, discipline, consistency, commitment, team work, humility, attitude, overcoming adversity, and sportsmanship.  Last year, we were honored to have former Chicago Blackhawk and Stanley Cup Champion, Brian Campbell, speak to our campers.  We're looking forward to having another guest speaker speak to our campers this summer.

Families are invited to continue the celebration with a special reception that will include dinner and dancing. Tickets are $50 per guest. (Note: Graduates do not need to purchase a ticket.)

homeroom tardies

As a reminder, the bell to let students enter the building rings at 8:20 am, and Homeroom starts at 8:27 am.  If students arrive after this time, they are marked tardy.  Three tardies in a trimeter results in a Lunch Study.  If a student has six tardies in a trimester, he/she receives a referral.  Thank you for helping to get your student(s) to school on time as we get near the end of the school year.
